About: Gathaithi Coffee Factory sits on the fertile red volcanic soils of Nyeri, where cool temperatures, reliable rainfall and high elevation create ideal conditions for producing expressive Kenyan coffees. Most growers cultivate traditional SL28 and SL34 varieties, alongside smaller plantings of Ruiru 11 and Batian.
This lot is a Peaberry (PB), a natural mutation where only a single rounded seed develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the usual two flat-sided beans. Peaberries are separated during milling by screen size and shape. Their rounded form allows heat to penetrate more evenly during roasting, often resulting in a remarkably consistent roast. Many coffee lovers value peaberries for their concentrated flavour and distinctive cup profile.
