About: Founded in 2015 by Aliss Hartmann, Finca Momoto is one of the newest branches of the Hartmann family tree. Aliss grew up at Finca Hartmann alongside her four siblings, spending her days among the coffee trees and clambering over bags of parchment at the mill. When her own children, Giuliana and Giuseppe, came along, she wanted them to grow up the same way, close to the land and to the coffee that shaped her own childhood.
Aliss runs the farm with the environment front of mind. Most of Momoto's coffee is naturally processed, drying in whole cherry rather than relying on the large volumes of water needed for washing.
While Momoto is best known for its Geisha, Aliss also grows Typica, Caturra, and Maragogipe. Maragogipe is a natural mutation of Typica, first discovered near the Brazilian town of the same name in 1870. It's famous for its enormous beans, often nicknamed "elephant beans", and a flavour profile all its own.
This lot was grown in the La Roca section of the farm. Dried in whole cherry, it's a big, fruit-driven Maragogipe with plenty of personality.
